The Island's cyber-security office is asking people running local Facebook pages and groups to keep a better grip on scams, fakes and frauds.
This morning, a group in Peel spread a fake post about a missing child - scammers record who's reacted to it or shared it in order to target them in future.
The Island's Cyber Security Centre says page admins should consider adding controls to minimise scam posts and remove them as soon as they're flagged up.
It's also asking people to report suspected scams to page admins as soon as you see them.
