Environment Minister Geoffrey Boot has admitted the government has no idea where the Island's mobile phone masts are.
In the House of Keys this week, he was quizzed by Douglas North MHK David Ashford about whether mobile phone companies share masts - and how many shared sites there are.
Mr Boot said the only masts that could be identified were ones that had needed planning permission.
But he told MHKs many simply didn't need permission from planners to be built:
