A new law to be introduced into the House of Keys this week would let the government charge businesses for putting out "avoidable" explosions and fires.
The Treasury Miscellaneous Provisions Bill is due to get its first reading on Tuesday when Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson asks MHKs to approve it.
The law would mean the Island's fire and rescue service could invoice businesses and landlords for callouts to false alarms.
The legislation also allows it to charge when blazes are real but thought to be avoidable.
