Google Cars Back on Island to Finish Image Capturing for Internet
The Google Street View cars are going to be back on the Isle of Man soon, finishing off the work they started on their previous visit back in April.
They'll be travelling around the Island capturing images of the individuals streets and points of interest, with the pictures ending up online, as a feature of Google Maps.
Street View is the latest addition to the free software, it allows the user to zoom onto street level and explore the high definition images.
It's thought when completed and online it will act as an effective tourism marketing tool for the Island.
Once all the images have been collected the tricky process of synthetically stitching them all together must then begin.
Anyone concerned of privacy issues once the images have been published will have the chance to report their grievance to Google, who will then strive to deal with the complaint.
Economic Development MHK Juan Watteron said the Island Street View will be a great way for potential tourists to check the Island out.
