The RNLI says it's looking at what sort of lifeboat station Douglas will have in future.
A consultation is being held as the station's Mersey-class lifeboat the Joy and Charles Beeby - one of just two in the Institution's fleet - is due to retire next year.
In 2016, the organisation said a new Shannon-class lifeboat would replace the current vessel, but that decision will now be reviewed.
A spokesperson for the RNLI says it hasn't managed to find a long-term solution for a new lifeboat station on Battery Pier but is committed to its future.
