Fundraiser launched in memory of Manx Tiktoker

A fundraising page has been set up in memory of a Manx Tiktoker, who aimed to be 'a voice for disabled people.'

Darren Douglas - from Ramsey had a condition called 'arthrogryposis' - a muscle and joint disorder which meant he couldn't use his arms or legs.

He joined the online platform in 2019 and found fame on TikTok - some of his videos went viral, reaching millions of people around the world.

His videos showed Darren going about his daily life - from carrying out tasks such as cooking and cleaning - to using his humour 'to give other people hope.'

Sadly, Darren passed away earlier this month.

Now, a Just Giving Page has been launched to help pay for his funeral arrangements.

Gemma Johnson, who set up the page - also wants to raise money to help care towards Darren's much loved service dog Yvie, who has now retired and is living with a close friend.

So far, more than £4,000 has been donated.

Speaking to 3FM, Gemma says she '"never imagined the page would go so viral so fast - and it shows how amazing inspirational Darren was to so many."

She added "Thankyou to all those who have shared memories and love for Daz, he will be missed by so many. His family, mum, 2 sisters and brother will miss him so much what a character he was."

We spoke to Darren in December - you can watch the full video here.
