Work In Early Stages For Improvements To Main Towns
Applicantions have been flooding in to the Islands Town and Village Regeneration Committee.
The scheme is endeavouring to make major improvements across the Island, with the public asked to submit their ideas on what they want to see happen.
The Committee gained a better idea of what the Manx Public want to see following a major consultation that took in well over a thousand opinions.
£8 million has been set aside for the works, with the funding available until 31st March 2012.
Work has already started in Ramsey where aesthetic improvements will be made to side lanes subject to planning approval; in Douglas there are plans to significantly improve the main retail area.
Local businesses and retailers are being asked to get involved and submit their ideas as to how improvements can be made to the outside of their premises.
Linda McCauley is the Regeneration Manager, she says it’s hoped that the scheme will act as a catalyst for future investments in the towns and villages.
