The Vice Chairman of Friends of the Queens Pier has been speaking to 3FM amid concerns from Ramsey residents about Government plans to ‘stabilise and protect’ the pier.
A proposed £1.8 million scheme would see a number of aspects of the pier identified as unstable removed.
This work would see the pier stripped of virtually all of its features, with a view to one-day redevelop the historic landmark when the economic situation has improved.
Some however feel that this work is the beginning of the end for the pier.
Vice Chairman Michael Tramontama says he is viewing the situation in a much more optimistic light.
