Police say more than half of vehicles stopped and checked last night had problems.
Officers were out in Ballasalla with officials from the Vehicle Testing Centre, making sure vehicles are ready for winter.
They say the fourth Operation Uplift roadside checkpoint stopped 47 vehicles - 25 of which had issues such as broken lights, worn tyres, or cracked mirrors.
Four drivers were given points and a fine for more serious offences.
