The man who became Douglas’s youngest ever mayor has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
David Christian will be getting his MBE as part of the Queen’s 2013 Birthday Honours List for his services to local government and the community of Douglas.
He was elected to the council aged 21 and became mayor ten years later. Since then he has led the multi-million Douglas town centre regeneration project.
However he says he never entered politics for the rewards:
