Treasury Minister Alex Allinson says courts have the power to deport people convicted of crimes.
In Tynwald this week, Onchan MHK Julie Edge asked about the process for revoking visas if people commit offences.
Dr Allinson said immigration officers make decisions on a case by case basis, based on how serious the crime is.
And he added courts can make banning orders or revoke the ability to stay on the Island.
