Work has begun to improve footways in part of the centre of Castletown.
The towns commissioners says a project to replace paving outside the civic centre on Farrants Way is underway saying concrete covering the area is coming to the end of its life.
Meanwhile, officials add the opportunity is being taken to re-profile the layby outside so it could accommodate coaches and buses in the future.
If the layby is used for coach parking in the summer, more disabled spaces will be made available behind the town hall.
