Fisherman fined for unlawful scallop fishing

Unlawful fishing off the coast of Langness has cost a UK fisherman over £10,000.

At Douglas Courthouse last week skipper, Leigh Shields was convicted of fishing for king scallops without a licence.
 
He was caught with 89 bags of scallops worth over £5,000 - as well as imposing a fine the Deputy High Bailiff ordered his catch to be forfeited. 
 
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister, Richard Ronan, says behaviour like this won't be tolerated:
