A major sustainability exercise which will help preserve fish stocks is being carried out on a stretch of bay in Port St Mary.
Part of Baie ny Carrickey will be closed for fishing of king and queen scallops for 20 years.
It's a plan that will be reviewed by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture in 2018.
For the next three years the bay will also be closed to large scale crab and lobster fishing.
