First phase of Food Park regeneration gets underway

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall last week unveiled a plaque marking the start of the £3m regeneration of the Isle of Man Food Park in Peel.

The first phase of the major four year project is now underway; this will include the erection of the security fence and gates, and the restoration of the old pump house at the entrance to the Park.

The next phase will see major improvements made to the infrastructure, including new drainage, power supplies, and the installation of fibre optic cables to improve IT connections.

The project will cost government £3 million; however a further £3 million will be needed from private investment.

The final phase will see other new units becoming available and the further creation of jobs, currently estimated at 150 posts.
