Firefighters spent around an hour on Wednesday night tackling a fire in Union Mills.
Fire crews were called to a house in Cronk Drine shortly before 6pm, after a householder reported a kitchen fire.
The occupier evacuated safely, and firefighters wearing breathing gear put out the blaze and ventilated the property.
The Fire and Rescue Service says the building was fitted with smoke alarms, which provided an early warning.
