The Island's Fire and Rescue Service says people should make sure they keep a close eye on lithium batteries, which can catch fire when they fail.
If a battery is extremely hot to the touch, bulging or swelling, or making unusual hissing or cracking noises, you should take immediate action.
On Facebook, the fire service also says strong or unusual smells or charging problems can mean a battery is defective and could be a fire hazard.
