Emergency Services were called out yesterday to reports of a large amount of smoke in the north of the Island.
When crews arrived at the scene they found an unattended bonfire that was in danger of spreading to nearby trees and hedges.
Officers set up a water relay from a nearby river to pump water to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Due to the density of the bonfire, crews spent approximately an hour and a half extinguishing the blaze, ensuring that the surrounding areas were dampened down too.
Even after the recent downpours advice remains the same - do not burn rubbish as there is still a serious risk of fires spreading across our very dry island.
