The Island's Fire and Rescue Service says it'll work on its recruitment policy after a report found just six per cent of its firefighters are women.
In January, the UK's Local Government Association spent four days reviewing the service in a peer challenge, and has now issued its findings.
It noted only one per cent of firefighters come from ethnic minorities, and said senior management understood more work needed to be done.
The report, which will be laid before Tynwald later this month, says the organisation should review its recruitment processes to encourage applications from diverse groups through targeted vacancy marketing, fitness support and open days.
