Fire service called to chemical incident

Fire crews were called to deal with a chemical incident in the south of the Island this morning.

Firefighters from Castletown were alerted to a shipping container shortly after 9.30am after its owner reported a harmful smell coming from it.

A team with breathing gear and gas suits found a toilet cleaner had mixed with another substance, giving off toxic fumes.

Crews separated the products and decontaminated the area.
