Fire crews were called to a smoke-logged property in the South this morning.
Two fire engines from Rushen attended an address at around 2.10am.
Crews saw smoke coming out of one property and also going into another next door, which appeared to be coming from a coal fire and was extinguished.
Officers say a carbon monoxide alarm provided an early warning of danger to the occupants and the residents in each house were checked by ambulance staff.
They also stressed the importance of detection alarms within domestic properties.
