Firefighters spent an hour dealing with a blaze at a flat in Onchan yesterday.
Crews were called out shortly after 2pm when a fire was reported in a first-floor flat on Ballachrink Drive.
Householders evacuated the building safely, and two were checked by paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation.
After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered an electric hob had been accidentally turned on with flammable materials sitting on top of it.
