A father and daughter from Port Erin have appeared in court after not reading their insurance documents properly.
48 year old Wayne Roberts and 17 year old Megan Rose Roberts, of Milner Close, were caught out on April 19.
It was after she was stopped for speeding at Sulby Bridge while driving her dad's car.
Police pulled the teenager over after clocking her travelling at 42mph in a 30mph zone - a check of her insurance policy revealed she wasn't covered.
Her father told officers he'd given her permission as her car had a flat tyre and he believed her insurance policy covered her.
At Douglas Courthouse last week he pleaded guilty to permitting his daughter to drive with no insurance; she admitted having no insurance and speeding.
Their advocate told the court it was an "unfortunate misunderstanding" as Roberts' policy had a clause in it which didn't allow her to drive vehicles that she didn't own.
He told the court she was "very sorry" adding "She's learnt a lesson at the start of her driving career".
Magistrates fined Roberts £620 and endorsed her driving licence with four penalty points; her R-plate period was also extended by three months.
Her father was given a 12-month conditional discharge, four penalty points and ordered to pay court costs of £50.
