A farm worker’s been fined after inspectors discovered ten dead calves and a number of malnourished animals.
John Edwin Christian of Mountain View in Ballaugh appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 44 year old admitted failing to bury an animal carcass at a farm in Sulby on December 16 last year.
The court heard government inspectors found Christian and three staff struggling to look after more than twenty young cows after its owner, who was heavily in debt, went to the UK.
Despite paying for animal feed out of his own pocket, the herd was malnourished and a number of calves had already died.
Christian was fined £650 and ordered to pay costs of £50.
