Erin Arts Centre returning next week

An entertainment venue in the South of the Island has announced it'll welcome back residents from next week.

Erin Arts Centre in Port Erin says its will open its doors again from next Tuesday (July 7) with events able to start up again there from Wednesday, July 15.

The team there adds its current schedule will be mainly films as they're easy to arrange but they hope to bring plays from two drama groups in the Autumn.

However, the Islands border restrictions mean artists from off-Island aren't able to come to Manx shores, and so the annual September opera has been cancelled but all the opera singers have agreed to return in September 2021.

Meanwhile, the Barbirolli International Oboe Festival originally planned for April will now take place in April next year, and the Manannan Festival has also been rescheduled to return to the venue in 2021.

The update comes after the arts centre launched a short survey last month to get the thoughts of residents about re-opening the facility.
