The Department of Health has today launched the Island’s first ever End of Life Care Framework following on from months of detailed research and analysis.
The Framework tackles the often taboo topic of death and looks into the importance of end of life care and the profound effect it can have on those left behind.
A major element of the research was getting the public’s view on the matter, with the framework formulated from the 1,200 replies they received.
The survey identified that there are inconsistencies in the provision of end of life care, especially dependant on what diseases are suffered.
Health Minister David Anderson said his department now have a clear steer on the direction of travel moving forward.
