Repairs will take several hours - water bowsers to be brought into use
A burst water main means households in the Farmhill to Crosby area are without water this morning.
The Authority’s Engineers have located a burst on the 400mm diameter water main at the Snugborough Trading Estate. The pipeline links the Douglas water treatment works to the Braaid service reservoir, which then supplies water to the affected areas.
Engineers are currently working to repair the burst, however this could take several hours.
Water bowsers will be available shortly at various locations to provide an emergency supply of water. Customers are advised to boil this water before use, 3FM will advise of the bowser locations as soon as we have been informed.
Once the main has been repaired, supplies will come back gradually, but should customers experience discoloured water, the Authority recommends running the cold water kitchen tap until the water runs clear.
Customers who require further information are advised to contact the Water & Sewerage Authority’s Customer Services Department on 695 949
