Emergency Services spend 4 hours tackling "suspicious" blaze

Emergency Services spent four hours tackling a house fire last night which authorities believe to be "suspicious".

At around 7.15pm Douglas firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from a building at Millmount, at the back of the National Sports Centre.

When crews arrived they found the house was empty - however due to the condition of the building it was deemeed unsafe for crews to enter.

As a result, the blaze was tackled from outside - which proved difficult and took a substantial amount of time.

As the cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious, the Fire Service is assisting Police with their enquiries.

Anyone with any information about the cause of the fire is being asked to get in touch with authorities.
