Island residents who are eligible to receive flu vaccination are urged to do so as soon as possible.
The Department of health have told us that at the moment there are a significant number of cases of flu circulating, and the weather is expected to get a lot colder in the coming months.
They also say the uptake of the jab has not been promising so far this year meaning a large number of Island residents are leaving themselves unprotected against flu.
Anybody who is pregnant is urged to make sure they receive the vaccine to ensure they don't face serious illnesses associated with the flu.
This year’s vaccine, like previous years, offers protection against three common strains of flu virus including swine flu.
