Noble’s Hospital has temporarily suspended elective surgery to install new equipment in the operating theatres.
In a statement from Manx Care, surgeries due to take place today and tomorrow are being rescheduled, with affected patients having their procedures within the next two weeks, however emergency, trauma and obstetrics cases will continue.
Once the equipment is installed, the hospital’s elective surgery programme might still have to run at a reduced level for up to six weeks due to a shortage of specialist staff.
Manx Care will continue to monitor the situation, prioritising time sensitive operations, and offering some patients the opportunity to have their procedures at UK centres, which recently helped remove the two week wait for breast appointments.
They also offer an apology for any inconvenience caused by the short notice changes.
