The chairman of Castletown Commissioners has called for a public inquiry, after efforts to encourage new development in the ancient capital ‘have failed’.
It comes after a planning appeal by the local authority, and developer Hartford Homes, over the refusal of a new 48-home estate at Knock Rushen, was turned down.
It's one of several areas earmarked for development in ‘the Castletown Housing Land Review’, a process which was supposed to help encourage developers to build new homes.
But the review was ‘a waste of time, effort and resources’ according to Castletown Commissioners chairman Richard McAleer.
