Collision Figures Down on 2009
Initial statistics would show that this year's road safety campaign has been successful.
Collisions in general are down significantly on last year from 99 to 86, with 8 less recorded on the Mountain Road.
There was of course the tragic death of the visiting biker on the Mountain, and also 24 slight injury collisions, this is the same as 2009.
The Roads Policing Unit attribute the relative success to good team work between themselves and the other emergency services.
Throughout the TT fortnight the Roads Policing Team gain ten more members to help cope with the influx of traffic.
Over the past two weeks 148 roadside cautions were issued, mainly for speeding offences.
The Roads Policing Unit have said once a more detailed analysis of the statistics have been published they will begin looking at how they can further reduce the figures for 2011.
