A beach cleaning charity has hit out after one of its workers discovered a bag of discarded syringes, leaving them needing HIV medication and antibiotics.
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale says more than 50 hypodermics in a plastic bag were dumped in a waste bin on Fort Island in Castletown.
He says a large number still had needles uncovered and the staff member needed precautionary medical treatment afterwards.
Bill described it as stupid, irresponsible and unacceptable.
The incident has now been reported to police.
