An Onchan man has been fined £500 after crashing on the Mountain Road last year.
20-year-old Ryan Lewis Bodell, of Royal Avenue West, misjudged a bend at Guthries on December 17th.
He skidded across the carriageway and hit the grass embankment and a road sign during the incident at 2.15am.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Bodell admitted driving without due care and attention and having two defective tyres.
In interview he told police his Ford Focus had been travelling at around 60mph and he hadn't realised how tight the bend was.
His advocate told the court whilst Bodell's standard of driving had fallen below the required level he'd been "completely unfamiliar" with the Mountain Road.
Magistrates fined him £500 and ordered him to pay court costs of £50 - they also endorsed his driving licence with five penalty points.
