A drink-driver who crashed his car and then lied to police has been told he was lucky not to be charged with more serious offences than drink-driving.
21 year old Liam Crook of Greeba Road in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted drink-driving on September 22.
The court heard he crashed his car, and abandoned it before calling 999 to claim it had been stolen.
When interviewed by police, he admitted he'd been driving and told officers he'd panicked after the crash.
Mrs Braidwood fined him £1,200, banned him for 18 months and ordered him to pay £125 costs.
