Douglas Council says the number of its tenants who owe more than £500 in rent arrears doubled during the last lockdown.
In a report from the local authority's housing manager, figures show 2.2 per cent of tenants were at least £500 behind on rent during February.
But that statistic rose to 4.4 per cent in March - at the end of the month, the council was owed more than £165,000 in back rent.
The issue is due to be discussed at a meeting of councillors on Wednesday.
