Work begins on Douglas Promenade today as a £40,000 resurfacing project gets underway.
The Department of Infrastructure is making improvements to the northern section of the prom.
Today, work will begin on a stretch of the road between Broadway and the Palace Hotel.
A 10mph speed limit will be enforced in a contraflow system that'll be set up this evening, and parking will be suspended on both sides of the road from midday.
The DOI says the road will be open while work takes place - today marks the start of the first of two phases.
In a week's time, the department says it'll begin upgrading the section from the Palace Hotel to Summerhill.
If all goes according to plan, the work should be finished by Sunday, December 4.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says the project is only a short-term fix until his department can finalise a scheme that'll see the Promenade fully reconstructed.
