The Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team have said they will be increasing their presence on the streets over the coming weeks as the Christmas period hits the busy period.
Given that Douglas will be by far the busiest area on the Island over this period the measure has been taken to increase police numbers to ensure people can enjoy the festivities in a safe environment.
Officers have already been visiting shops and businesses to offer advice on security and crime prevention.
The policing team have also reiterated the anti drink-drive message, appealing to people not to drink and drive as the consequences can be devastating.
Responsible drinking in the pubs will also be strongly promoted with the police working closely with the licensees throughout the festive period.
A strict warning has gone out to anyone caught committing anti social behaviour that they will appear in court which could potentially result in a number of punishments, including hefty fines and prison.
