A 51 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in Douglas.
At around 3:20AM on Sunday Morning police were called to the central Promenade by a woman who claimed that she has been sexually assaulted on the beach.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a distressed female in the area opposite the Castle Mona Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The male arrested is from Douglas, further details about the woman have not been released by police.
An investigation is underway.
