The chair of Douglas Council’s housing committee has put forward a motion to allow social housing tenants with ‘exceptional’ circumstances an additional 12-month lease.
Devon Watson says, if introduced, the policy will ensure residents who are pregnant or have a disability will be protected.
The motion would last until the Department of Infrastructure sets new ‘financial thresholds’ for access to social housing.
