Douglas Council has voted to object to plans for a new Iceland store in Braddan.
At a meeting last month, the local authority's Environmental Services Committee discussed plans for a Food Warehouse supermarket on the Spring Valley Industrial Estate.
Councillors pointed out the land is zoned for industrial use and claimed the planning application would breach the government's policies on out-of-town retail developments.
Voting to lodge an objection, the committee said the benefits of having an Iceland store don't outweigh core planning policies.
