Douglas Council says it doesn't want to be considered critical national infrastructure in the case of cyberattacks.
When the local authority sits on Wednesday, it'll consider minutes from an executive committee meeting about new cybersecurity laws being drawn up by Tynwald.
The council says it doesn't want to be on a list of critical systems that would need better security measures because it doesn't have the money to spend on them.
The executive committee added the council could still provide its essential services such as waste services and sheltered accommodation even if it was hit by internet hackers.
