Douglas Council has apologised for not warning the public about the return of charges in its car parks.
Both Shaw's Brow and the Bottleneck car park were free to use during the Island's three coronavirus lockdowns to support key workers, essential retailers and their staff.
But with restrictions eased on Monday, some motorists were surprised to find the car parks were imposing charges again, leading to some criticism on social media.
The local authority says tariffs were reintroduced to coincide with the easing of restrictions, but has apologised for not making the public aware of the change in advance.
