The Manx Wild Bird Aid is urging people not to put out string or twine for nesting birds after a close call.
The charity was called over the weekend as a sparrow was found close to death with twine wrapped tightly around its neck.
Birds are searching for nesting materials at the moment and don't realise that things like, wool, dryer lint and human hair can kill them.
The rescued sparrow has now recovered completely and been released.
