 
                            The Island's Fire Service has issued advice on how to stay safe this festive season.
The team says while fire safety is important all year round, the 'extra distractions of Christmas make it especially important to be vigilant.'
Tips include making sure smoke alarms are tested, to never leave cooking or burning candles unattended, and making sure any lights are switched off before you go to bed or leave the house.
Crews add that they've noticed that more portable heaters are being used this year so please take extra care when using this type of heater.
