Don't leave furry friends in hot cars say police

Police are warning pet owners not to leave their animals in cars during hot weather.

The Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team took to social media to reiterate the message.

With a heatwave forecast this week, officers say never to leave your furry friends inside a hot vehicle.

The force says it only takes a couple of minutes for the situation to become fatal.

Anyone who sees a dog in distress is urged to call 999.
