Police are urging people not to break a window if they see a Dog inside a vehicle during the warm weather.
The constabulary has shared a post on social media, which claims officers themselves had given the opposite advice.
It reads 'Police say if you see a Dog locked in a car during high heat, take a picture of the animal and Car, call authorities, wait 5 minutes and break the car window.'
It states 'this way you will not be charged with criminal damage and will give evidence to Police to take the Dog owners to court.'
However, the Isle of Man Constabulary says the information is 'categorically incorrect' and not to follow it.
Officers say if you have concerns regarding the welfare of an animal in a car, to call them, but not take actions into your own hands.
Police say they will prioritise these matters, as they take it very seriously.
It's been met with mixed reactions from the public though, with nearly 60 comments of people either siding or disagreeing with Police.
