The Domestic Abuse Act 2020 will come into force on January 4, with supporting regulations going to Tynwald next month.
The Act will provide a legal basis for support of those in abusive relationships, giving police and the courts new powers to deal with domestic abuse.
Guidance for the public will be released in the coming weeks, detailing new offences and how to access services if you are a victim.
You can find more information on the government's domestic abuse webpage.
