A man has denied subjecting his ex-partner to a reign of terror with regular beatings and threatening to chop up her dog.
Michael Keane, of Y Vaarney Yiarg in Castletown, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
The 38-year-old denies domestic abuse.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court that his then-girlfriend fled to her sister's in April after Mr Keane allegedly hit her 15 times causing extensive bruising.
The court heard allegations Mr Keane beat her on a weekly basis, barricaded her in a room and also threatened to kill her dog and post body parts to her.
The case was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery and Mr Keane was bailed to appear again on June 25.
