DOI wants new St Marks planters

The Department of Infrastructure has applied for planning permission to improve road safety measures in St Marks.

Following a request from local MHK Graham Cregeen in January the department put wooden planters at the side of the main road through the Malew village to encourage motorists to slow down.

The structures, however, attracted widespread criticism from commissioners who said they were too ugly for a conservation area.

The department has now applied for permission to install 14 steel planters to replace the wooden ones.
